the greatest compliment i’ve been given
One of the most memorable compliments I’ve been given was from a good friend. We were playing the compliment game, where we all go around in a circle and give each other the most genuine compliments we can come up with. It’s a fun game; makes you feel good about yourself and your friends and makes you reflect a little deeper than you typically might about why you really like your friends! You should try it sometime!
I’ll never forget what my friend Kyle said to me on this one occasion: ”You make people feel like family”. It hit me hard because, that really mattered to me! It was really meaningful to hear that I made him and potentially other people feel that way, because I really do value the relationships in my life and have strong family values. And getting that external validation from Kyle meant that I was doing a good job at actually living out those values!
The relationship I have with clients is obviously different from my friendship with Kyle (we’ve known each other since middle school, and most clients aren’t lifelong friends!). But I hope they get a feel for what he meant. When I work with clients, one of the things I hope they feel is that they can be themselves. That, to me, is what it really means to make people feel like family. They can be themselves and know that someone’s got their back.
If you’re interested in getting to know me more and would like to learn more about birth support, reach out! I’m happy to tell you a little more about myself and I’d love to learn more about you!
The compliment game was played here, on a friend group trip to Smith Mountain Lake. Kyle is the tall on in the back with the Hurley shirt, I’m kneeling, two left from the dog :)
